FREDERIC MOLENAC
Born in Pau, South-West of France in 1964,
Frédéric Molénac spent his early childhood in Africa.
As a result of his multiple influences, the creator keeps on summonning his past and present in order to explore ways
to translate and weave creations tied with ancestral, futuristic, tribal, urban, sacred ritual and contemporary art influences.
After collaborating with Claude Montana and Jean-Paul Gaultier,
Molénac launched his first Ready to Wear collection in 1987.
One year later he was awarded Best Young European Creator by Cartier Fondation.
Elected by the French and international press as the « Touch » for his avant-garde vision of fashion, Molénac attracted
the attention of the House of Madame Grès where the master of draping invites him as Art Director from 1995 to 1998
to sublimate the body without compelling it.
In 2000 Frédéric Molénac launches his own Haute-Couture brand.
His universe made of innovative cuts and techniques developed over 10 years serves as a base for his work of plastician,
a duality between technologies and traditions, where the industrial techniques serve the unique.
The silhouettes that he creates are real alive sculptures that he presents during one of a kind fashion performances.
His Haute-Couture clients which are for the most part, collectors of contemporary art
with a passion for his subversive textile creations, have since acquired
his sculptures creations.
Today, Frédéric Molénac is seen as a transversal designer, commissioned by Knoll International
and the city of Shanghai for the new interior design of their metro system.
